McGill Dementia Education
to Support Caregivers

Receiving a diagnosis of dementia can prove to be a difficult reality for individuals and family members. The key to navigating this journey is to find acceptance and avoid denial, become as educated as possible about the disease, understand how it will progress, make health care plans for the future, ensure a safe home environment and provide family caregivers with as much support as possible in order to avoid caregiver burnout.

Caregiver Crosswalk Inc. is proud to work in collaboration with McGill University’s Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, McGill Division of Geriatric Medicine, McGill University Research Centre for Studies in Aging, as well as McGill School of Physical and Occupational Therapy to offer a wide range of comprehensive resources to educate and support persons living with dementia, family and informal caregivers, healthcare professionals, medical students and the public at large.

Claire Webster's own personal journey as a caregiver has given her the confidence to mentor others . The Fall and Rise of Superwoman is a lecture about vulnerability and the resilience that is required to manage the care of a loved one while raising a family, having a career, and balancing society's expectations.

“Your number one priority has to be your health; if you’re not healthy mentally and physically, you can’t be a proper caregiver to your loved one.” Read more>
